Amanda Bearse

Amanda is best known for her long stint on the controversial hit show "Married With Children". She played Bundy Neighbor Marcy Rhoades D'Arcy to perfection, a snippy yuppy puppy, who was hounded and harassed by the Bundy Clan.

Amanda worked both in television and in film. One of her projects was one of my favorite films Fright Night. She played the sort of cute, sort of sexy, sort of wimpy girlfriend of the hero. Toss that in with Married With Children, a two year stint on the TV soap All My Children and you have a pretty darned good acting resume. But she slowly drifted off from stardom to directing and smaller roles.

It may well have been her disclosure that she was a lesbian that hurt her career, or perhaps her short hair (long hair is best on most women, in my opinion). Or perhaps she was too closely associated with the Marcy character. I really don't know.

Amanda started a promising directing career and directed many episodes of high rated (and new) shows. But that effort (apparently) fizzled out in just a few years.

At this writing Amanda Bearse's last known work was in 1999 as director of an episode of "Ladies Man". Her last known acting gig was in 1995's "Here Come the Munsters" as Mrs. Pearl.

As for WHAT she is doing for a living (acting or directing)... unknown. But she is living in Los Angeles with her daughter Zoe and her life partner.
