Betsy Russell

When you speak of Betsy Russell, you are speaking about a woman who tortured my life for a very long time. When I  noticed her for the first time it was in "Private School" with Phoebe Cates. I went to see the film to see Phoebe and had no desire to see anyone else. Then... she came onto the screen.

Flawless. Sexy. Bombastic. She blew me away. I barely noticed Phoebe Cates in the movie (which for me, at the time, was an unbelievable occurrence). I suffered through many a screening of the film... always sitting in the back row... watching, waiting, dreaming, hoping... for the theater to be empty (or nearly empty). It never was so I had to wait for "Private School" to come on cable before I found relief.

Ahem. Err. Anyway... as I was saying... Betsy won me over. To me she was the most flawless of beauties, sexy beyond words. Blond and perfectly built, with an air of mischievous fun that filled my mind (and loins) with a passion not easily forgotten, I could do little else than dream of her and await any film with her in it.

When I read that she was going to star (not co-star but STAR) in a film it seemed to me to be the longest time waiting for the film to come out. I mean, an entire film with her as the main focus? HURRAY! I couldn't wait!

To say the least... I was disappointed by the film, Tombody. Yes, Betsy was still sexy. But no longer was she blond, and her hair looked funky and wrong to me. Oh... I DID realize that she was not a real blond all along. In "Private School" her pubes were dark, so I DID know. But it was a let down for me none the less.

Her breasts didn't look as good either. Perhaps she had lost some weight in the few years since "school" wrapped or perhaps it was just my imagination. I can never tell. Sometimes truly sexy women "fade" quickly. Like Charlotte Lewis... in "The Golden Child" she was wondrous... but a few years later her face and body had aged greatly. And... Tracy Lords too. At 15-20 she was just perfect. Then she started to fade into a chick you'd see working at K-Mart.

Back to Betsy. She worked after "Tomboy". She seemed to make a movie once every year or two. Then in 1996 she made "Amanda's Game" where she starred (with Malcolm McDowell and Elliot Gould). After that she disappeared until "The Flunky" in 2000. After that... she was pretty much gone.

Betsy did some very nice nudity in her career. For me, she could never surpass (or live up to) her sexiness in "Private School". I know that is unfair... but it is true nonetheless. Maybe if she had stayed blond her career would have stayed on track. Maybe not.

I do have to thank her for many a wondrous fantasy and wet-dream. But she really should pay me for the 10 or 12 pillows I ruined in the "Private School" years.

Where is she now:
As of 2008 Betsy is working again and looking as fine as the day is long!
