Maren Jensen

Just about everyone who knows of Maren Jensen remembers her from "Battlestar Galactica". It was her shining glory. She was beautiful and sexy in a way that few other women of the day could compare with (at least on television). Many boys (and men) tuned into the show just to see her. I was one of those.

Oh, don't get me wrong... I loved the theme music to the show. I also liked the general premise and some of the other actors. But it was Maren who caught my fancy, as well as my fantasies. The more I watched, the more I wanted to see her, and was often disappointed. Her role on the show was never as much as it should have been.

Maren was a law student and a model when Hollywood came knocking on her door. She didn't seek out Hollywood fame, it sought her out. She was happy as a model and happy that one day she would be a lawyer. But someone introduced her to an agent and that all changed.

Battlestar Galactica was an instant hit with those who yearned for more Star Wars and Star Trek. Maren was an instant hit too... being too beautiful for such a story line. Despite that, the show was short lived. It lasted barely two seasons and Maren left suddenly and unexpectedly in mid-season during the last year. Even cast members did not know what happened to her. She was just gone.

Maren went on to do a few guest shots on television shows and did a couple of films. The most famous of those was "Deadly Blessing" in 1981 where she did a few nude scenes. The film did not work... and it was obvious that Maren was wearing panties in the snake/tub scene. Fans will put up with a great deal... but bad editing can really piss us off.

The real question here is whether Hollywood left Maren Jensen for "dead" or if Maren Jensen left Hollywood for "dead". I think that the answer is that it was a mutual agreement. Perhaps she saw where he career was heading after "Deadly Blessing" (more nudity) ... but I don't know that for sure.

Maren and another promising actress disappeared from acting right after making the movie. Another went on to a successful career.. her name being Lisa Hartman. And yet another actress continued on and made quite a name for herself. That actress was Sharon Stone.

It makes me wonder what would have happened had Maren continued.

From my best sources I found that Maren went on to get married and is now living as a single mother in the mid-west. She guards her privacy and wants nothing more to do with Hollywood.

I know everyone is talking about Eva Longoria being the sexiest and most beautiful woman ever on television. Well... all I can say to that is... f*** Eva Longoria. Maren Jensen is it.
