Meg was always geared toward fame but life just kept getting in the way. She won a scholarship for Ballet but a serious back injury stopped her in her tracks. She decided to move on to another career in the entertainment field... and that field was acting.
She was sweet, sexy, and won over the hearts (and pants!) of men all over the country. She was in place to become a true "star". But it didn't really happen for her. Oh, she did get work and recognition. But an injury stopped her short when she was cast in the Oscar winning Amadeus (1984). That could have turned the tide for her. A few not-so-good films like Impulse and Psycho II didn't help her career much - that, despite her being nominated for a Saturn Awards for Psycho II. She was nominated for Oscar for Agnes of God, for which she won a Golden Globe Award. That should have heralded a new wave of success for her, yet it didn't. It is strange that she continued on to do some very powerful films but those films didn't cement her star power. Meg worked in many films and television projects but never achieved the lasting fame she so justly deserved. She averaged one film a year for many years. Then, in 1993-1994 she has a burst of energy and did 5 movie and television projects. She had one project in 1995 and suddenly we saw no more of her. Surprising, her sister, Jennifer Tilly became the bigger "star", and the more successful earner. Some people will argue with me about that statement but I am right and they are wrong. Jennifer is a working actress and has done much more work (and varied) than Meg has. It is true that Meg has been in some higher brow projects... but as Jennifer's career progresses she continues to grow as an actress. She also continues to grow in pants size. ;P Meg's career stifled pretty early on. Her dour and expressionless performances never much moved me (except in The Big Chil"). She could have been a sex symbol... but she took a higher road... one to my "Left for Dead" list.

Where is she now: (07/02/08): What she has been doing is writing in Canada. In 2006 she wrote a book (her second published) called "Gemma". It is a very graphic depiction of the kidnapping and sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl. Tilly, who says she was abused by relatives when she was young, says it was a hard task, but she made a promise to the main character "Gemma" that she would see it through. Meg Tilly may be returning to acting. I don't have any additional information on that as of yet. Meg a couple of years ago:
