Lydia Cornell                Pamela Sue Martin

The word "torment" is often applied to many stories of life... and for me, Pamela Sue Martin was always a torment. I spent many nights sweating over dreams of her. Many classes in school were dreamed away whilst I sat slack-jawed thinking of her. Even these many years later her image occasionally pops into my mind as her voice lilts across my brain. She was and is one of the prettiest women that I have ever seen.

Pamela Sue MartinI first noticed this beauty in "The Poseidon Adventure" in 1972. She was about 17 years old when she appeared in the film while I was somewhat younger... but I fell head over heels in love with her. I didn't know why at the time... as puberty was not talking to me yet.

Pamela continued to work and I continued to follow her career with great interest. Then, in 1977 she was cast in the role of "Nancy Drew" in the "Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys" television series. The show lasted only a year but put Pamela on the top of the heap for a little while.

For those of you who are too young to remember... in the 1970s most people did not have cable. We had a few network stations. What we did at night when nothing we liked was on television was to read "books". If you don't know what a book is... look it up on the Internet... or find a dictionary (which would be sort of redundant as it is a "book" too).

My prayers were answered in 1979 when Pamela starred in a "prison" movie called "The Lady in Red". Well... it wasn't a "prison" movie more than it was the tale of Dillenger (an old-time gangster). I remember the prison (or jail) most because Pamela was briefly (but wondrously) nude in a strip-search scene. LORD! I had to wait YEARS for the film to come out on video so I could.... cherish it... at home... alone. That was a torment I can tell you!

In 1981 Pamela got the role of her career... as Fallon on "Dynasty". The show was a massive hit and Pamela was a major star. The show lasted for 8 or 9 years but Pamela only stayed for 4 of those. She went on to work all though the 1980s but suddenly... she was gone.

She did two shows in 1990 and a bit on Larry Sanders in 1992... but nothing else during the 90s.

Then... in 2002... I saw her again. As pretty and as sexy as she has ever been. Still a wonder to view. Still a maker of silent but frustrating fantasies. There she was... on "That 70s Show" playing "Wizard" in the episode "Tornado Prom" at the nice age of 49... looking better to me than any other woman on that show.

There is a push on some fan sites to tell the producers of "That 70s Show" how much fans enjoyed seeing Pamela on it and that we all want to see her again.Pamela in 2002

Come back to us Pamela. We need you!

Where is she now: (07/01/2008)
In 2001 she was living as a divorced mother with a son in Idaho.

In 2002 she did a quick but nice guest shot on "That 70s Show".

In 2006 she did a bit part on "The L Word".

In 2008 you'll see her in "McTaggart's Fortune" and "Soupernatural"! :)
