I
can remember the first time I saw Caitlin Clarke as
if it were only yesterday. The movie was Dragonslayer
and at the start of the film Caitlin's character
was masquerading as a boy.
I knew immediately that the character was not really
a boy, as I am sure most
of you did. Those eyes, those lips, that skin, and that
hair gave it away - no matter how manly Caitlin attempted
to make her voice sound.
There was a flash of Caitlin's
nudity in that film (and we also got a wee look at Peter
MacNicol's willy, I guess added there for the wee-willy
interested folks), and that 2 or 3 seconds of nudity
has remained with me all of these years. In this day
and age of DVD and high-def, slow-mo, stop, and zoom,
that nudity is now more accessible than ever. It was
nice and memorable nudity. I liked it. But it was Caitlin's
face that stuck in my mind more than her bare backside.
I liked her face very much.
Five or so years later I was
watching the movie Crocodile Dundee when the
main character meets up with some street prostitutes.
He, of course, doesn't realize that they are prostitutes.
The dark haired prostitute,
Simone, says, upon learning
that he is in America for the first time, "We'll
have to give you one for free."
That speaker was, unbeknownst
to me at the time, Caitlin Clarke. I didn't know why
at the time but I remember being attracted to Simone.
Now I (and you) know why.
Over the years Caitlin has
worked a lot of TV and has done some teaching. I see
her on the little screen from time to time, sometimes
recognizing her immediately, sometimes not. Either way,
I always seem to find her face appealing.
